Steps To Adhere For Locking The Outlook 2007 Personal Folder

Outlook program allows users to manage their emails and personal files securely by allowing them to create passwords. Follow the simple help with Outlook instructions given below for locking a personal folder in Outlook 2007.

Instructions

  • Open the Outlook 2007 application by double clicking on its desktop shortcut icon and then select on the File menu found in the menu bar in the top of the application window.
  • Now select the Data File Management option from the drop down menu opened by clicking on the File menu tab.
  • Now select the .pst personal folder file where the password is to be applied and then click on the Settings button.
  • Now click on the Change Password button found in the page for changing the password of the email associated with the Outlook program.
  • In the Change Password box, enter the old password if the system prompts you to enter it. Now enter the new password in the text box found next to the option named New Password.
  • Confirm the new password by re-entering it in the text box found next to the option labeled Verify Password. Take care to enter the passwords in exactly the same way, otherwise you will not be able to change the password.
  • Click on the OK button for saving the new password. Before clicking on the OK button, make sure that you remove the check mark in the check box found next to the label Save this password in your password list. According to the help with Outlook articles, if you check this option, then anyone will be able to access your Outlook account.
  • Close the Outlook program by clicking on the close button found at the top right corner of the application window.
  • Open Outlook and then try to access your personal file from the Data File Management tab by clicking on it. You will be asked to enter a password by the Outlook client and the file will be shown only after entering the correct password.
  • Remember to save the password somewhere safe so that you can access the personal file even if you forgot your password by viewing the stored password.

If you follow the simple instructions given above, you will be able to lock your Outlook personal folder. If you are not able to lock the same by following the above instructions, then feel free to contact the Outlook help and support team.
