Forgot Your Windows Password

The Windows OS allows you to create multiple user accounts on the system. This allows many users to have access to the same system, but also keeps their individual files hidden, as well as customizing the settings to their preference.

You can protect your account using a password. However forgetting the password is one of the most common occurrences. But, don’t worry; there is a way out of this problem, as given below:

Resetting the computer password using USB Flash Disk

  • Switch on your computer. Click on Reset Password option. Connect the USB flash disk you had created for exactly this purpose.
  • The Password Reset Wizard will now begin, so click Next. Select the Password Key Disk and click on Next again.
  • Type in your new password, and retype it in the spaces for verifying the new password. Click on Next and Finish. When you try to login into your system again you have to type in this new password to login.

Restoring User Account without USB Flash Drive

  • Start up your computer and keep pressing F8 repeatedly until the system opens a window titled Advanced Boot Option.
  • In here, select the Safe Mode with Networking option and press Enter. Now your system will enter the safe mode. Click on the Default Administrator option to login in to Windows.
  • Click on the Start button situated in the desktop in the bottom left corner. This opens the Start menu, where you must select the Control Panel and then click the small arrow next to the address bar.
  • Click on All Control Panel Items and also User Accounts.
  • Click on the Manage Another Account option and chose your account profile. Select the Remove the Password option, and then Remove Password to confirm your actions. Click on the X button on the topmost right corner of the window to exit.
  • Press the ALT and F4 keys on the keyboard simultaneously, and get a drop-down menu. Here select Restart and then click OK. Now login to your user account using the new password.

It very easy to forget your password, so you must chose a short but special password. This way you never forget, and do not have to worry about unauthorized access.
